We are fragile, yet we do not recognize it. When something horrible and life-changing happens to us we try to shake it like a duck propelling the water from its feathers and then hide it deep in our subconscious to try to appear that all is well, when every decision we make after that is in direct correlation to what happened to you. The yells,
the screams,
the fist hits
received by -.
The sword’s sharp words,
“You ain’t gonna be,”
spoken by -.
Echoes of bombs and gunshots
forever ringing in the ears.
Blood-covered body parts scattered
fresh in my mind
from decades gone by.
Unwanted,
forceful
touches – by him!
Lost child,
heart stopped,
still can’t breathe.
Drunk driver survival,
love of your life forever taken.
Horrendous events of nature,
taken up by the wind,
buried by layers of rocks,
or swept under by liquid life.
Unspoken shameful secrets
tearing your soul apart daily.
These THINGS/FEELINGS can
NEVER be UNDONE!
Their imprint on
my body,
my mind,
on my soul…
Crushing my chest,
shaking and electrifying my nerves,
pulling me down this
endless black hole.
Walls growing higher
then the Empire.
Fight or Flight 24/7.
Repeating the inflictions
on self and others,
as I self-loath,
floating in this
Misery!
Monsters chasing me
in and out of my dreams.
Visions of terror appearing real.
Purpose and focus
lost in the fog of my thoughts.
SELF-ENCAGED to lock
my heart away from love.
Helpless to change this course.
Overwhelmed,
enraged,
ashamed,
and shut down
as I seemingly search
for the road to
Recovery!
